I am a novice:) but pretty logical. The instructions are clear but when I try to remove the metal coupling, it just keeps turning. I can’t get it to move counterclockwise or clockwise without turning the whole mechanism. See the attachment for what I am dealing with.
The black rubber part disentegrated.
yeah, as far as I’m concerned the instructions are bogus - how could you turn the coupler 1/4 turn when its mounted on a shaft that turns freely?
Wow, my mistake. It works.
"Turn coupler 1/4 turn" doesn’t mean that the shaft has to be stationary while you turn it… you literally turn it and bend up the next bit of coupler edge with the screwdriver until it magically loosens and you can unscrew it (clockwise).
I’ve repaired small appliances (unprofessionally) for 30 years and this is the most mysterious thing I’ve seen! You must keep bending the edge of the coupler up, and it suddenly loosens and can be spun off…
Thanks for the response. I kept at it and finally realized that the tip of the screwdriver should not stop at the drive shaft and the screwdriver was just a leverage tool. It only took 4 turns after that!
