I need to verify that the motor on my washing machine is bad. I am assuming that it is, but before spending a few hundred I wish to verify.
With the belt and pump disconnected from the motor, only the power connected, the motor will not turn. It only hums. I would like the ohms numbers across the terminal so I can verify the motor is bad.

Also, is there anything else I should change since I have it apart. I am planning on ordering a new pump and belt.
Motor windings rarely fail. It’s more likely the motor switch or your not getting power to a winding. You must have power to the start winding and the high speed run winding in order for the motor to start. If you only get power to one of the windings, the motor will just hum and not start. If you want to check winding resistance:
BRN to RED (start winding) 4-5 ohms
BLU to YEL (high winding) 1-2 ohms
VIO to YEL (low winding) 1-2 ohms
You can take the cover off the motor switch to inspect and check continuity of the start winding contacts and the run winding contacts. The switch is the part that the wiring harness connector plugs into.

Thanks. As you said the winding checked out ok. The switch did have signs of heat, but were still making contact. Resistance across the contact was 0.1 ohm.
Does that mean the motor is OK??
What more should I check??
I assume that the motor shaft rotates freely by hand? Need to check voltages at motor windings when motor should be running. You should have 120vac across start windings at motor connector red and brown wires and 120vac across blue and white/red for hi speed or pink and white/red for lo speed. Don’t allow motor to just sit there and hum any longer than necessary to take readings as this can damage the motor.

I think your first sentence answers my questions. I can barely turn the motor with a leverage let alone by hand. I though that was odd, but the motor didn’t make any sounds indicating it seized. So I assumed it was just a hard motor to turn. The failure must have occurred very quickly.
