Need to Replace agitator and clutch

 Need replace the agitator and clutch. Was able to remove agitator and got that fixed. Then tried to remove clutch and gear shaft but shaft will not slide out of the tub??? Any sugesstions. It seems stuck inside the ring at the bottom of the tub. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. 2 teenage boys laundry is taking over home!! Thanks

Agitator must be removed first. Remove clip and plastic agitator drive from agitator shaft if it has one. Thoroughly clean exposed part of agitator shaft inside tub before removing gearcase.

I attached the pictures of what the washing machine looks like right now. Hoping someone can help:)

All I can suggest is to push it back in all the way and make sure the agitator shaft is clean and smooth. You may need some sandpaper to get the rust off the splined part of the shaft. When pulling out, try twisting and pulling at the same time. You might have someone else use a block of wood and hammer to tap on the top of the agitator shaft as your pulling it out the bottom. Once you do get it out, make sure you rotate the brake cam drive CCW while pushing back in on the spin tube, I see that it has dropped a bit.
