New ADC board dont work

I bought a used fridge with the hopes of repairing it. The defrost element was burnt and the unit was freezing up. I ordered the new element but they have been changed from the original style to a 2 element heater. After replacement, the fridge still froze up in the upper half of the evaporater. After testing the defrost controls through the mother board it was determined the the ADC board was bad (had a burnt spot on it too). I purchased the new board and it is slightly differant in appearance. The instructions tell me to cut the #2 pin from the J1 connector to eliminate the thermistor wire. Now with all this done I dont get anything but the lights. Before I replaced the board at least the compressor ran and it froze up. Now what?

I reinstalled the old board and everything comes on (didnt leave it in long enough to freeze) When the new board was installed, the ice and water lights slowly flashed and did not work either. I checked with the customer service line and I did receive the correct part. Why is it now doing less than before?
