New time quit too!

The timer stuck on my dryer, i checked it out and it was getting power just not doing anything. I ordered a new one ($85.00) and it worked one time, and also quit. it is power is getting to it but it isn’t moving. Any ideas?

Can you post exactly what it was doing before the new timer and your model number?

The model # DLB1550RALAD. The dryer was working fine and then the time just stopped moving. I replaced the timer, it worked one time and the next time it just stayed where you put it. Is there something that would burn out timers?

Did the dryer stop heating & turning or just the timer?

Just the timer. it still runs and heats, just wont stop.

How much voltage is getting to the timer? Have you tried other settings?

Check the timer wiring per. the schematic.

about 123 volts on a digital meter. I have tried all the settings but the timer motor just doesn’t seem to be running. It just stays where you turn it. I have talked the local supply house into giving me another one but I am afraid that something will happen to it. I have studied the wiring diagram but just can’t explain what could cause it. Maybe I just got a bad one?

It’s always possible to get a bad part. Nat

Did you check the resistor & board assembly(#148 on the diagram) or the SUPPORT CIRC BOARD (42)?

GE/Hotpoint has had a lot of timer problems. Stick 115 volts directly to the timer motor and verify it turns the timer. If not, you have a blown timer motor or a bad gear in the motor gearbox. Also, verify the timer motor has about 2.5 K resistance.

Thanks for the help, I put another timer in and it has been working every since. I guess sometimes you just get a bad one. Thanks again!
