My GE Quiet Power is not going into wash cycle. FIlls suficently, no wash then empties. tried replacing Module Control ASM circuit board but thats not it. When I put it in ‘Service Mode Test Matrix’ and activate main pump the motor hummms but does not start. How can I test motor to confirm it is toast or alternatively just ‘stuck’ ? I have a multimeter but dont know extacly how to test motor. Any help appreciated, thanks
These motors have a reputation for getting "stuck". Get something small enough to reach into the motor case, that is non-conductive. Select a wash cycle, and as the motor is humming, gently prod the armature to see if it starts. Sometimes, this will cure the problem; but most of the time it problem returns. If it does start running, chances are the motor is the culprit. You’ll need to replace it.
Thanks for replying, I took the motor out and it seems to turn freely. Any ideas?
Thanks
Test to see if you get 120VAC to the motor from the board.
Well it goes now. Thanks for following through with me on this. Must have been as you said, the motor must have been ‘stuck’. For those of you reading this, I turned the motor over and it didn’t feel stuck but it appears just manully turning it did the trick, I think ??
Got to hate dishwashers !
