old tappan tappan double oven bottom turns on top oven wont

help have older tappan double electric oven the lower oven works heats up and power light comes on the upper oven will not turn on or light not come on think mite be the thermostate switch 720t016p01 is this possible alot parts discounted anything i can do to test parts i have meter any ideals would be grateful older model thanks jim

Not sure what light you are referring to.
Is it the interior oven light?
The preheat light?

think mite be the thermostate switch 720t016p01 is this
Does this unit use a manual temperature control or is it electronic?

the red light says what ovens turned on on front panel where knobs are there one for bottom one for top. top oven wont turn on or light doesnt come on its old dial turn temp control switches to broil turn dial all way clockwise when turn dial oven supposed come on and red lite lights i have nothing on top side bottom oven comes on fine and lite comes on any help be gratefully appreciated

theres two switches one for each oven thats part number right off part theremostae comes off each one runs into each oven thinking upper oven switch is bad cause on red lite dont come on no heat if was something else neither oven would turn on ?

If you have checked that the wiring is OK then I would agree with you that the control is the most likely suspect.

any ideal where i can finf this switch even used one part number is 720t016p01 thanks says been discountinued everywhere i go any ideal who mite have used one laying around thats number right off switch

Sorry I have no idea other than junk yard and local Tappan appliance repair shops who may have one sitting on a back shelf.

You may want to start a new post with that question.
With luck someone else will jump in with a suggestion.

I have the same issue on a Tappan double oven, model number 11-1653-30/02350-5516501. What do you suggest?
