I have a Magic Chef MOdel CER3725AAW oven baking element that all of a sudden started sparking and then burned about a 5 in section. Is this common? I have already ordered a new one from Parts Pros
Is this common?
Yes it is.
The problem is that often this type of failure can also take out the control board due to the voltage spikes with a little luck this will not be the case for you.
When replacing the element be sure to unplug or remove power from the unit.
On most units one side of the element is still live even when the element is shut off.
It is also a good idea to clip something (clothespin etc.) onto the element wires so that they do not disappear into the back of the oven before you can get your new element installed.
