Oven won't light, Broiler does

My oven quit heating a few days ago. The broiler heats up on both settings, but the oven does not light at all. The gas cooktop works correctly on all burners. There is no real trouble shooting help in the manual for this unit. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

BD,

At this point,

You most likely have a weak or broken bake igniter.

[part]AP2014008[/part]

You can observe the igniter operation, if you don’t have a ammeter.

Remove the oven bottom and the flame spreader from the burner assembly.

Select a bake cycle and temperature, and observe the igniter for a glow in a few seconds, in 20 to 30 seconds it should be glowing "white" hot, and should release gas to the burner, and get a flame.

If the igniter never glows, check to see that the dark gray area in the metal cage is not broken.

If you have a clamp on, or inline ammeter,

In your particular case you should read a minimun of 2 amps and would prefer to see 2.5 amps or more,to activate the bi metal switch in the oven bake burner to release the gas.

If the igniter is not broken and you still have no glow,

Then you will need to check for voltage or broken wires to the igniter, from the ERC(clock).

Good Luck,

The part you listed does not show to be compatible with my stove according to the list that is attached. I have not pulled it out yet to look at the one that is currently installed in my unit however.

I got it pulled out. It does appear to be a match. My ignitor coil is in peices. I have ordered a new one and am awaiting its arrival so I can replace it and test for operation.

BD,

Great,

Remember to be Very Careful, with the new igniter assembly, They are pretty delicate, and subject to "easy" breakage.

But, I’m sure you’ll be up and running soon.
