Problem with Whirlpool washer not draining or spinning out

We bought a used Whirlpool stacker washer/dryer at an auction and we can’t get the washer to work right. It fills, agitates but does not drain or spin out. The cycle just seems to stop at those functions and it does nothing.

I’m thinking it may be the lid switch and/or actuator but I don’t know.

The model is LT7000XTWO

I don’t know if this sounds like it may be the issue and I have no idea how to get into the part on this machine. I appreciate any help!

You’re on the right track,

For a washer that does nothing in the spin/drain setting, the first palce to start is the lid switch.

First, make sure the lid switch actuator tab ( attached to the lid )is not broken or missing.

Here’s how to access the lid switch assembly:

  1. Remove the transition panel(the panel on the bottom of the dryer)by removing the three(3) retaining screws. Tip the panel down and lift it out.
  2. Release the two washer top retaining clips and slide the washer top forward off the unit. ( you’ll need a flat blade screwdriver, press down and out on the spring to release the clip).
  3. Remove the two(2) Washer front Panel retaining 5/16" screws. Then remove the Front Panel Brace and remove the Front Panel.

If you need to :
Washer Mechanism Removal

  1. Remove the two(2) 1/2" washer retaining bolts ( in the base of the washer).
  2. Remove the Motor Wiring and Wiring Harness Clip.
  3. Remove the Drain Hose from the retainer.
  4. Remove the pressure hose.
  5. Lift and pull the washer assembly forward out of the cabinet. From this position it is possible to service all the washer components, which are similar to those used in other Whirlpool direct drive washers.
