I have a Frigidaire SxS refrigerator, that is not cooling properly. The freezer compartment is cool, but not cold- about 38 degrees and the refrigerator is about 45 degrees.
The condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan is running.
I checked the coils in the freezer and they were completely covered with frost so I assume the cooling system is working, but after manually defrosting the coils and waiting 24 hours it doesn’t seam to be getting any colder.
Anyway, the fans run, the condenser is clean, there is no frost, it seems like everything is normal.
I had the defrost timer replaced a few months ago. Could this be the problem?
[LEFT][COLOR=#000000]There is a dial for setting the cooling level that I have cranked to the coldest setting. If I back it off the refrigerator get warmer

I cannot find any info on the given model number.
Tried here and the Frigidigaire site
Please check it.
When you say the evaporator coils were frosted over, where they frosted/iced to the point that the evaporator/freezer fan could not pull air through them?
This would have then been a defrost problem.
Is the compressor cycling or is it on all the time (other than when it goes through a defrost cycle)?
If cycling then it could be a control thermostat problem.
Note I do not know if this unit is electronic or uses an analogue thermostat.
If the compressor runs continuously:
Check that the evaporator fan is OK.
Remove the cover in the freezer so you can check the evaporator coils.
If they are heavily frosted over then you have a defrost problem.
If there is just frost in one area of the coils (usually where the freon enters them), then you have a sealed system problem.
The coils in the freezer were completely frosted over to to bottom/left to right so the actual coils themselves were not visible (they looked like a block of Styrofoam. It took 3 hours to manually defrost and the fan is operating.
I am not sure if the the compressor is cycling. It feels very warm and the fan is working.
The freezer temperature is 36F
The refrigerator temperature is 48f
The compressor and fan are both running and appear to run continuously.
Should they cycle on/off?
The temperature of the compressor housing is about 100F
The evaporator coils in the freezer have no frost (which I would expect with the temperature being 36f) and there some are water droplets on the horizontal
tubes

Yes they should cycle on/off when the unit reaches the set pointy temperature.
Since the unit runs continuously the control thermostat is OK.
Since the compressor runs all the time it is trying to reach set point temperature but cannot therefore is sounds like a sealed system problem.
This will be an expensive repair as you need a pro. In most cases it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit.
