My refrigerator is warm and the ice maker does not make ice but the bottom of my freezer is cold. I called for a Sears service and he found that the evaporator motor fan is not running. The parts and labor is too costly so I decided to do it myself. With the motor removed, I measured the resistance bu I cant get any reading even on R x 20K range so I thought by theory the motor winding is open so I ordered a new motor with the same part #. When I measured the resistance again on the new motor I don’t get any reading so I thought they sent me a defective motor so I requested for a replacement motor. The second motor that was delivered also has no continuity. The motor is rated 115V, 60 hz. I don’t have the wiring diagram of this model. What could be the problem? I’m hesitating to apply a 115 V across the leads
of the motor.
In order to provide most accurate advise we need the complete model number of the fridge. You posted the serial number.

My fridge Model # is 106.56666502. It seems like the evap motor on this Model fails a lot. My brother-in- law’s ref. also have the same problem and we just use the ref once in a while.
If the motor is a 115 volt motor, it looks like a SM999 motor will work. This is a much more reliable motor. Just follow the directions with the motor, will need to use old connector and may have to pull off the armature and turn it around to get it to spin in the right direction.
Check for the tech sheets and if you will find it, try to post them.
