Refrigerator running intermittently

Kitchenaid side by side, compressor, condenser fan and evaporator fan are cycling intermittently, unit is cooling, and maintaining -1 in freezer, and 37degrees in the refrigerator, but, it appears that all of these units are cycling off and on far too rapidly , almost as if there was no control over them, compressor and condenser fan cycle on, run for a minute or two, shut off, along with evaporator fan, maybe a minute or so later, compressor tries to start, overload keeps clicking due to high head pressure on high side, when pressures equalize, then compressor and condenser fan cycle on for a few minutes or so and then off again. I have not attempted to use the on board diagnostics yet but am leaning in the direction of either a bad main control board or possibly a bad inverter but everything runs. Your thoughts?
