Refrigerator

This summer I rented an apartment and noticed that occasionally there would be water on the floor in front of the refrig. I assumed that the drip pan was full, but there was not drip pan. I tipped the refrig up and cleaned the coils but saw no obvious place for a pan. Not having any more time to deal with it I simply wiped the water up as necessary, and as autumn approached the issue ceased to exist.
Today I pulled the veggie drawers at the bottom of the refrig out to clean them and found a large puddle of water underneath them. I looked online at some FAQs regarding this and the answer was that: a drain line going to the drip pan was probably plugged up. I checked on the appliancepartspro.com website but could not find a drain line or a drip pan listed for the GE TBX18JA.

If anyone has any ideas about a solution to this problem I would greatly appreciate hearing from them.

Thanks for you time, JimBeam

There is a drain line and a drain pan. On your model there is a drain tube that goes down the back of the refrigerator. You should be able to take it off and clean it out.

If that isn’t clogged then it may be clogged between there and the freezer. Take the back cover out the freezer and look directly under the coils and you should see a metal pan with a hole in the center. That hole if the drain, make sure it is clear. Sometimes that pan will rust through and you will have to replace the pan to repair the problem.

There is also a short tube that catches the water from the pan and sends it to the drain tube on the back, make sure that tube is not clogged and is in line so that it will catch the water. I have seen where this tube will come out of line and the water would be missing the tube. At times I have had to use silicone to keep it in place. I hope this helps!
