Replacing the drive pulley on a Duet Dryer

What is the approach to replacing the belt drive pulley on the Whirlpool duet dryer? Do I take the back off and replace the pulley with the motor in place? Do I have to pull out the motor?

Thank you.

The following should help.
Although not exactly the same it should be fairly close.

You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download the manual.

The response is not helpful. The manual provided in the response does not address replacing the motor pulley. In my case, I have a broken pulley. the end of the pulley is broken off, so the belt comes off when the motor starts turning.

A specific question I have is how do I lock the shaft to remove the broken pulley? The manual shows putting a 7/8 wrench on the pulley to turn off the blower wheel, but the hex end of the pulley is broken off, and I don’t want to remove the blower wheel.

Thank you.

I though you just wanted to know how to get at the motor.

All I can suggest is using vice grips.

Note that it may be reverse thread.

Sorry…you’re right, I didn’t ask all the questions I had in my original post. I’ll look for a flat spot on the shaft to grip with vise grips and allow me to turn off the broken pulley.

Thanks!
