My dryer suddenly stopped running. I exammined it and discovered that heating element looked burnt halfway. Thinking that I need a new heating element, I replaced it.
I have done this work before and the machine ran well when I did it. However, this time, the machine still cannot start. What else in order of 1-5 should I do to power it up again. Machine is Roper Model#: RES7745PQ0. Type: DWJR-Ele-2406028-FM54
Part used for heating element: 279838.
When the heating element failed it may have shorted to the frame and overheated the unit.
This may have blown the thermal fuse (Item 7 in Section 1).
Unplug the unit and check the fuse with a meter should be 0 ohms.
Jiggery Pokery method is.
Unplug the unit.
Remove both wires from the fuse, short them together and tape them up so they will not short to the frame.
Plug the unit in and give it a try.
If blown, replace the fuse ASAP as it is a critical safety device re: prevents lint fires which can turn into house fires.
Also clean/check your vent system and the blower as these are the most common causes of it blowing.
