My Roper dryer won’t start. My wife had just finished drying a load and put another load in to dry and it wouldn’t start. When you turn the timer to a setting you do hear some clicks but it won’t start up.
I turned the timer on around, when it got to the fluff setting it did come on. When I took my hand off of the timer it kinda clicked back a notch maybe and stopped. It would repeat this action but only on fluff setting.
Since the unit will start in air fluff the start switch, motor and thermal fuse are OK.
Sounds like a timer problem.
Set the timer to a problem area.
Unplug the unit.
Check BK to BU on the timer, should be 0 ohms.
Check T to W, should be 0 ohms.
It is a good idea to disconnect one side of the contact set you are checking. This ensures that you do not read an alternate/parallel circuit path.
Also use the most sensitive meter scale and short the meter leads together before starting. This will tell you if there is a zero offset in the meter.
