The "heavy" light blinks continuously which indicates there is a leak according to the user manual. But I have checked and there is no leak. I cannot get the dishwasher to stop blinking and reset so I can use it.

First of all, https://wisepick.org/best-instant-hot-water-dispenser/ model do you have?
upd: sorry, totally missed it, since the name of your topic is reduced by forum settings. Still, my advice is still the same.
Check that voltage is getting to the element. If you have an ohmmeter check it. The heating element should have about 9 - 11 ohms resistance. If you have the different number - that’s the problem. We had about 15 ohms in our dying InSink-erator.
Have a look at your model’s https://www.waterheaterhub.com/rheem-water-heater-manuals/ if you still have troubles.

All the same advice will be. Apparently the problem was solved by itself ?
