i picked this thing up and the guy that had it did some home made repairs with electrical tape, duct tape and bare wire…he burnt up all the thermostats and fuse…i have all of them new and i am trying to rewire it back to the manfacturers standards but dont have a schematic for this exact model…i have some schematics for the newer kenmores that have the heating element in the back…this one is on the bottom under and to the right of the tumbler drum if looking at it from the front…if anybody has a wiring diagram or schematic for this model # or older style of kenmore/whirlpool dryer i would really appreciate it…shawn
Shawn,
The schematic should be in the console of the dryer.
Nat
i know that is where they usually are…i got this one off the side of the road and it didnt have it…
This one should be very close, it has the same wiring harness.
Nat
Correct, If you are only getting 110V make sure your have 220V at the wall plug.
Nat
ok…i took a break from this thing for a while cause i was nukin it…i read my plug and my red has 110…and the black had 110…each leg together makes 220 right??..and then white is ground…am i wrong…cause i am definitly getting 110 at one side of the heating element…this thing also has a circuit card next to the timer…that isnt on the schematic…im lost…help!!!..oh …God bless your ministry!!!
yeah i do have the 220 at the plug…i used another dryer i got and it started right up…that circuit card seems to be ok…i read out all the resistors and the values are correct…ill try and dig thru the harness and see if i can get anywhere…the thing is…it was tumbling when i first got it and that guy had it wired all crazy…now that i undid all that and tried to do it the right way i aint getting the 220 to the motor or the element…its weird…if you got anymore suggestions that would be great…im an electrician in the navy and started working on washers and dryers in my garage for extra money…teaching myself all this stuff and picking up tips from this website…anyway…thanks again…
OHM out the timer contacts if thats possible without a wiring diagram if that machine is all butchered up the guy probably fried the timer in it the two thick red wires should be the ones carring voltage to element
GE fridge freezer ice maker the condenser fan turns very slowly with very little power, the compressor is very hot, even when the freezer is set at full freeze will only go down to -6 and the casing of fridge freezer is quite hot, can I wire a external fan to make the thing work ? is it a control board failure that causes the fan to run slow ? the service guy says blockage in the system is causing the fan to run slow and wants me to buy a new fridge ? what happens if i leave an external fan running permanently please Help. Bill in UK
Check the voltage the fan is getting. If it’s OK replace the fan. You can put a box fan blowing on it to get by till you get it fixed.

Thanks - yes I`ve now removed the condenser fan blade and fitted a bathroom fan module over the fan apeture and tempreture is dropping quickly, proving the refrigent system and compressor are ok and that the service guy was talking thro his A—
Just wonder what would be the long term consiquence of leaving the external fan on permanently ? or maybe wired in parrallel across the compressor main feed ? will the defrost system still work OK . since no one over here seems able or willing to ID or supply a circuit board or module to control the condenser fan
Kind Regards Bill

Did the igniter glow at that time?
Gene.
the igniter comes on when first start up does not come on after that untill i restart dryer
Possible a loose connection or a bad wire somewhere. You may want to check all wires and connections.
