whirlpool timer defrost W10822278
These kind of timers have a plastic screw on the back…you can turn them to get a fridge started again if it doesnt turn on after a defrost cycle or if its taking too long…
anyway what is the proper way to set this screw for normal use…??
do you turn it to the right or left or what??? Can a fridge tech give me some info on this…
The defrost timer is just a clock with a cam that activates a set of switches. It runs in refrigeration for a set number of hours (probably 8 hours), then it switches to defrost for around 21 to 30 minutes depending on the timer. Then its back to refrigeration.
There is no need to set it or do anything with it unless you have a problem with defrost or want to test it. Just install it according to the instructions with it and power up the refrigerator. It will do the rest automatically.
it does seem like a cam… btw… this 8 year old fridge shows signs of the thermostat
going bad…its not doing it right now but was a while back where the compressor wasnt turning on… but the compressor is ok. is it difficult to get at the thermostat in this model and can I replace it with a generic model??? a lot of the original stuff in this box was chinese.

Even if I get a new fridge, this was always too small, I want to keep this running for a back up.
