The water seems to come out fine, except the water tray that is supposed to release the water to the icemaker freezes up and the water that continually comes out freezes on the sides and down the back of the freezer. I spoke to a repair person and they suggested that maybe the fridge was not going into defrost. We’ve also noticed that the fan has not been running. If it is the defrost, then how hard would it be for a regular person to replace?
The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.
This is not a defrost problem.
