The dryer is working perfectly fine. I just started smelling gas when it’s running. I know it’s not the valve or the hose because there’s no smell when the dryer is off. Does anyone know what causes this or have heard of something before? I read in anopther thread about it smelling when the unit is off only so this is totally different and I suspect something internal. It’s a 6 and a half yr old dryer and it’s running great.
Don’t use the dryer until you have it checked by a pro. Gas is too dangerous to rely on distance diagnoses.
I called Sears and they’re coming tom to check it out $130 just to come and look at it. I’m an A/P mech and have done a few things in our house myself to save on labor. I guess when it involves safety I won’t hesitate to pan out but $130 whoa! I guess I need to be prepared for whatever parts need to be replaced. It could be nothing maybe just the combination of the detergent, dryer sheets, garage odors, etc. Just for a piece of mind I’m going to run it once w/o those factors and see if the smell is still there. I just want to eliminate that possibility before it’s too latwe to cancel the appoinment. Otherwise I agree that for safety purposes it should be checked by a pro before my house goes up in flames.
So, then, Sears is the only appliance repair company near you?
