Solenoid plunger problem

I recently purchased and replaced the solenoid and drain valve arm (& seal) on my GE dishwasher However, the new solenoid plunger keeps popping right out of the solenoid when it tries to drain…Any suggestions?

The bracket is probably bent downward, bend it up so the plunger does not come out. What part# did you use?

I ordered part number #AP2039683 - solenoid drain kit

Any way you can take a pic, and attach it, you must have assembled it wrong, and without seeing it, I’m not to sure I can tell you what is wrong

I think that is your problem, If you don’t get that shaft back in through the flapper assy inside the pump assy, than this will happen. If you want to try to get it back in properly, you will need to remove the motor/pump assy and do it this way. If you can’t get it in, and I never have been able to, you will need to install a new motor/pum assy.

Upon further thought - does this mean you would have to replace the whole motor/pump assembly anytime you replaced the pump drain valve shaft seal - which you have to replace by taking off the shaft - and by the way, the seal is a part that is suggested to also be replaced when you replace the drain solenoid…

Normally you don’t remove the shaft when replacing the seal, otherwise you run into this problem, and now you may have to replace the pump/motor, unless you can figure out a way to get the shaft back into the drain flapper.
