when in agitate mode it spins and slings water over top of tub. What would cause this?
Are you able to freely rotate the basket by hand? When looking down on the tub, which way is basket spinning while in agitate mode, CW or CCW?

Yes I can freely turn the basket and it spins ccw. Thanks Richard
The brake is not working. Either the brake lining is worn away or the spring has broken.

Thanks Eric for all your help. I found the brake lining was broken I bought a new one installed it and that part works great. Now when in spin it only pumps out the water but does not spin the motor is running the belt and pulleys are spinning freely. I found a link that said to check the lid switch for continuity but I don’t know what terminals to check. Thanks Again Richard
