Had a problem back in June 2009 with brown stain lines on clothes and clothing catching in between the front of the drum and the cabinet…
After reading the posts on this forum, I replaced
AP2150497 Felt glide assembly
AP2143044 Seal/basket lower
Seemed to correct the problem…however it’s back, along with a very annoying squeak that sometimes goes away…
Based on what I’ve found in the site, I’m guessing I’ll need to replace (both?) the above again along with
AP2142648 Rear Drum Bearing Kit
Is there anything else I should replace while I’m in there? Possibilities I’ve found:
AP3886900 Idler Arm Assy
AP3865318 Dryer Drum Belt
Thanks!

Hi Charles,
You are on the right track. All these parts should fix it.
Gene.
Gene,
Any chance, or how can I tell if I really need another
AP2143044 Seal/basket lower
As it is only 3 years old…
Also, how can I tell if I need
AP3886900 Idler Arm Assy
Thanks!
Or should I just replace them to be safe?

The only way you can figure it out is disassemble the dryer and check it.
Gene.
Never mind…I took a closer look at the other side…it’s toast
Thanks!
Charles
Ok, the drum bearing didn’t have any instructions…but I think I got it…
Only thing is when I took the old one off, a little BB size copper ball fell out along with the 1/4 steel ball bearing…
Is the copper ball supposed to be there? Or did I get a BB caught in the dryer at some point?

Charles,
The 1/4" steel ball bearing must be there but I have no clue about a copper ball. Where it was?
Gene.
Good question…
I didn’t see it, I just heard it hit the inside of the cabinet as I was loosening the screws holding the bearing on…
I don’t see it in the parts diagram…and there doesn’t seem to be a place to put it. So I’m thinking it’s just a BB that found it’s way inside somehow.
