I have a maytag dryer (Model #: MDE2500AYW) and sometimes when I start it the timer won’t move. The machine will just keep going and going and won’t shut off till the knob is manualy turned to off. I have replaced the timer and that seemed to fix it for a couple of weeks but now it is back to its old ways. My question is, could this be a problem with one of the thermostats or the heating ellement?
Does it do it on timed dry as well as on auto? If timed dry works fine, then you may want to check the vent for any obstructions and make sure the blower wheel is not slipping on the motor shaft.
If there is nothing wrong, replace the cycling thermostat (#8 on the [B]diagram together with the high limit thermostat (#8 on the [URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47807&diagram_id=653188)).
Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47807
Gene.
It does stick in timed dry as well as auto dry. I went ahead and ordered those thermostats. I will check the blower wheel and vent when I put the thermostats in, just in case. I will post back next week with the results. thanks for the help
