My GE XL44 Model JGBS22BEA6WH Serial HF131412P won’t light. Both the 4 burners on the stove top won’t light and the oven won’t turn on either. The element lights up, but there is no gas smell or any lighting of the pilot. Is there anything else I can check myself before calling a repairman?
P.S. I already checked out the Trouble Shooting Tips on pages 40-42 of the Manual at http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-85068-1.pdf . From what I’ve read on the similar posts and replies, I think that it may be the glow bar (ignitor), but I don’t have the expertise to know for sure. The 3 things that are working are the clock display up top, the oven light inside, and the element is lighting up, but very slowly. Any ideas that a willing but admittedly novice handymom could try before calling in the ($$$) experts, would be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read. You guys seem to really be able to help folks out with your advice :).
Hi.
When you turn the burners on does the ignitors spark?
Please reply.
