I have a 4 year old side by side Frigidaire that gave me an error code of SY EF. The evaporator fan wasn’t running so I unplugged the fridge for a few minutes and plugged it back in. The fan kicked on immediately and cooled the whole thing back down to normal temps (0 degrees on the freezer side and 36 on the fridge side) within a few hours. But almost as soon as the freezer temp reached 0, the temps started climbing back up. Evaporator fan is running normally. When it hit 12 degrees I unplugged the fridge again, plugged it back in a minute later, and the freezer temp read 31 degrees. Fan running, and now the LCD readout says it’s cooling again – currently at 26 degrees. I’m stumped.
