My GE Advantium microwave would lose power intermittently. When it finally went dead I checked the Hood TCO & found it had lost continuity. I ordered a new Hood TCO & after receiving it I confirmed it had continuity then installed it. I plugged the microwave back in to the outlet & everything powered up fine except now the fan blows continuously. I checked the continuity on the Oven Cavity TCO & found it closed, thus (I believe) feeding constant power to the fan. I ordered a Oven Cavity TCO, but AppliancePartPros order history shows the first TCO I purchased was an Oven Cavity TCO. I suspect that might be a typo because I’m under the assumption the continuity on an Oven Cavity TCO should be open unless/until a certain temperature is reached & when that happens the TCO connection will close to power up the fan & cool the oven. So, if I indeed replaced the Hood TCO with an Oven Cavity TCO wouldn’t the microwave be without power since the Oven Cavity TCO has an open connection? Am I correct in assuming the Hood TCO should show closed & the Oven Cavity TCO should show open? That when these respective TCOs are triggered, the Hood TCO will cut off power to protect the unit while the Oven Cavity TCO connects to power to cool itself down?

You should replace the cavity thermostat. It’s normally closed. The one you replaced - the hood thermostat is normally open and close on temperature rise to turn the blower on.

Thanks. I just need to clarify with you. The Base Hood TCO (1432 in the diagram) allows power to flow through the unit (closed) & shuts down (open) when sensing excessive heat coming in through the hood vents, etc. The Cavity TCO (1430 in the diagram) is normally open & only provides power (closed) to automatically operate the fan & cool the unit when sensing excessive heat in the oven cavity. Is that correct? And if I had replaced the Base Hood TCO (closed) with a Cavity TCO (open) I shouldn’t be getting any power in the unit. Is that correct?
Also, I had disconnected the cavity thermostat (1435 in the diagram) intitally to simulate it being in an open position, but the fan continued to operate. If it were a bad thermostat shouldn’t the fan have shut off?
