The lights are on but nobody's home :D

When I press the buttons to start the cycle the lights go on but it doesn’t start running; no water goes to it or anything. I even left it like that all night and when I woke up the green lights were on as if the cycle completed but nothing happened inside the dishwasher; nothing ran, the soap was still intact and no water had gone through the dishwasher.

The night before we had put up two ceiling fans. My husband said that that had nothing to do with it because they were on different circuits, and the wiring they did was in the attic and there’s no way that the dishwasher had anything to do with the wiring in the attic, and also that if the dishwasher was getting no power to it the lights would not be on. But I just thought I’d mention it anyway in case it’s relevant.

I looked up a few things and there was some directions on how to reset the controls but it said to press the "heated dry" button and then four other buttons and I do not have a "heated dry" button so either it can’t be that or I don’t have a model that does that.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? It really doesn’t make sense to pay a repair man to come out and look at it because the dishwasher is not worth the $79 it will cost to have someone come out. My husband’s suggestion is to get a sponge and some dish soap and start using it as a drying rack.

Any help will be appreciated.
