Thermador Controller Removal ?

I am trying to remove (to repair) the Oven Timer Controller from the front of the stove. Must I remove the top of the stove to complete the task or can I slightly force up the stove top to remove the Controller ?

Thanks, Maxx

Maxx’s Question
Model Number: RDDS30VNQ I am trying to remove the ‘Stove/Oven Timer’ from the front of the unit. The question is…must I remove the top of the stove to successfully remove the part (Part #486752) ? Maxx

The model number is actually RDDS30VQB

Thanks , Maxx

did you determine the answer here? … do you have to remove the tip drip pans to get to the timer, or does that come off the front with only disassembly for the front panel?

I have a slightly different unit (model number RDF30WQ) but has the same Stove/Oven Timer (486752). You do not need to remove the top to get to the this on mine. Two screws on each side (facing up) will release the face plate frame. The glass face plate then comes off after knobs are pulled out. A metal sub-plate that the unit is screwed to then comes out (8 screws on mine). At that point, you can removed the unit from the sub-plate.
Perhaps you can help me… My Stove/Oven Timer was removed by someone (not me) that did not tag the wires that plug into the unit. There are 9 plus a multi-wire plug. The 9 are labeled E1-E9 on the unit. Can you tell me which color wires plug into which plug on your unit? I have not been able to find this info so far.
Thanks

thanks for the information, I expect it will be useful to others on the site. I no longer have access to that Thermador stove. Have you called Thermador service/parts in CA or the east coast? I think they may help if you bought the replacement part from them.

good luck
