Thermador Cook Top

The "extra Low" Right Front Burner On The Cooktop Just Stopped Working. The Igniters Will Spark But I Get No Gas Flow From The Burner. Could It Be The Solenoid For That Burner? How Do I Get To It? Do You Have To Remove The Cooktop From The Counter?

Those potentiometers just love to go bad on the Thermadors. I just got bit on that recently and learned a few things on them. The replacements are better amd come as a kit that includes a new simmer controller.
The selonoids while not trouble free are pretty reliable from what I hear.

JOES, I have the same problem as you, though a different model#.

Did the kit solve your problem?

gearhead1218, do you recommend the same for me?

Thanks.

Front xlo burner not lighting.

I ordered AP’s AP3872616 (Bosch part No, 497235) potentiometer kit yestereday, received it today.

I installed the new simmer controller and the new potentiometers. The only thing that happened when I tried it was that gas came out of the back right burner, but there was no ignition at any burner.

I replaced the original parts, reversing the two original potentiometers. Then four of the five burners worked again, but not the rear center (xlo). Now the front xlo lites fine.

I called Thermador customer service. Only an authorized repair person can get information from their technicians.

Does the new kit require something other than a simple swap?
Could the simmer controller be defective?

DOes anyone know if this replacement kit will work on the Thermador SGSCV36G? I have the same problem with my left front extra low burner and every site says no part available.

Thanks

redwood42,

I would recommend to call the customer service (877-477-7278) and ask for Adam. He’ll help you.

If the compressor and condensor fan is off, then your refer is most likely either stuck in a defrost cycle, or the cold control has failed. Open the refer door and tap the cold control to see if the contacts close. If it starts working then you need a cold control. If not, just behind the control is an opening that you can insert a screwdriver into. This is the defrost timer and it may have gone into defrost, but didn’t make it back out. Try to turn the timer and see if the refer comes back to life. If it does, then it’s probably time for a defrost timer.

Washer has started to have too much vibration when it spins, It Walks.
I have checked the level and it is good. I relevele it anyway.

No change, it still walks.
It there an adjustment for holding the spin tub in the center whilr it is spinninh?
Any other thoughts of possible corecive action I can take?

Did a reinstall of the new parts today and all burners are working properly. It is a simple swap.

That was in June of 08.

Oct 28, 2009 - Used the front extralow burner once this morning- all ok. Tried to use it a few moments later and heard a pop sound. Now both extralow burners are inopperative. Any suggestions?

What exactly it’s not doing?

No spark, no gas or nothing at all?

Hi Gene -

Thanks for your response.

The nonsequenced burners worked fine. The sequenced burners (xlo) gave no spark and no solenoid action. I ran a voltage troubleshoot today and made it to no 1.5 volt DC on line 5 of the simmer controller, only random excusrsions between +0.15 and -0.15 volts DC. I ordered a new potentiometer kit today so that I can replace the simmer controller.

It’s strange that something should pop 4 months after the 1 year warranty. Hope the new one lasts longer.
Thanks again.
