I have a problem with the top part of the agitator stops turning under load. I replaced with new complete agitator but after a couple of washes back to the same problem again. I followered the instruction for changing out the dog cams but I cannot get the top to separate from the bottom. Im a strong guy and I cannot get the top part of the agitator to separate from the bottom. The part number on the agitator is 1316058. Can someone help me separate the two half so I can replace the dog cams. Thanks
You have posted a Frigidaire model which has a one piece agitator and no dogs.
Agitator dogs are on a two piece agitator that are found on Whirlpool models.
That explain why it wouldn’t come apart. Is there a after market two piece that will work with this machine. I have replaced two agitator already and after a couple of washes the same problem comes back. Im not sure if I’m getting bad new agitator are what. If I push down on the center cap it works. The bottom of the agitator work well and strong leading me to believe that the transmisson is ok. Do you have any final suggestions that might fix this problem. Thanks.
I don’t think you can change out agitators.
And I cannot tell you what the problem is with your agitator. It may be a problem with the shaft, or that you recieved a bad part.
If you bought from this site there is a warranty with the part. Check with APP (those of us who reply are volunteers and not associated with the company).
Good luck.
Thanks for your reply. All remaining functions of the machine works well. I thought the whirlpool two-piece agitator which looks very similer to the frigidaire agitator might be a suitable replacement. I guess I will have to do half loads until machine replacement. Thanks
