Having a issue with my Upright Fridigaire Freezer Model# FFU14F5HWH. It will blow cold air but not cold enough to freeze. There is ice buildup on the heater exchange. The defrost thermostat has been changed but do not know where to go from here. The parts repair store here locally said next we could look at the Electronic Control Assy on the door. Just need some direction to troubleshoot and find what is going on with the freezer. Called frigidaire out and they said it was the defrost theromstat that needed to be replaced and I said okay we can take care of that but that did not take care of the issue. Please help…
Here are your parts.

I am assuming that the evaporator (heat exchanger) is iced/frosted up to the point where the evaporator/freezer fan cannot pull air though the coils.
Here is a wiring diagram

Note that it does not show the defrost thermostat but it is wired in series with the defrost heater.

I do not know how the other people troubleshot the unit so cannot say what really need replacing.
Unplug the unit and remove the control.
Do not let the evaporator coils thaw. The defrost thermostat opens just above freezing so it must be frozen to get a proper reading.
Then measure wires/pins 8 to 4 on the connector side. Basically you are measuring the defrost heater and thermostat.Should be around 20 ohms.
If it measures OK then I would replace the control.
