I can purchase replacement brake pads for $13.00. Can I replace them myself? They came off and the washer tub just spins fast during wash cycle. Secondly, do I put lubricant on both sides of the brake pads?

If you will post the model number someone should be able to help you. Brakes do not just fall out, so be ready because there may be some other problems with your machine.

Ok, good.

Here is a service manual for your model, which will include instructions (see page 30) on replacing the brakes. Note the lubrication requirements.
