Washer has inconsistent performance - Clothes often come out soaked

On our Whirlpool LSQ9500LQ0 we’ve noticed that often times the clothes are still soaking wet when the complete washing cycle has finished. Of course when I sit there and watch to observe what’s occuring, raising the lid but keeping the lid switch down, it runs fine and the clothes come out ready for the dryer. Still trying to ‘‘catch’’ a situation live where the clothes come out soaking, but in the meantime I’m wondering if anyone can share some guidance from experience or expertise.

You have to verify that the washer goes from drain to spin by itself. DO NOT OPEN THE LID while it’s draining. Post the results.

Gene,

From the very beginning of the wash cycle I have the switch itself held in the "closed" position with a screw driver, so the machine does think the lid is shut the whole time. That makes sense, right? That was just to allow me to observe what was going on inside throughout the entire cycle.

Jim,

The transmission in your washer has a neutral stop what means - it has to be stopped by a timer for a few seconds during spin cycle in order to engage the actual spin. If it does not do it, the timer has to be replaced.

Thanks for guidance Gene. Looks like something the likes of me can handle.

Before I step forward, does it seem odd that it’s intermittent? Is it likely for the timer to slowly go bad, instead of just failing altogther.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

You really have to spend some time to monitor how it does the drain/spin before you order any parts.
