Washer is loud, shakes, leaves black dust

Hi,

Title pretty much says it all, but a picture’s worth a thousand words right?

Here’s a video I just took.

The dust it leaves is pretty much centered under the clutch assembly/pulley.

Anything obvious?

Thanks.

This kind of diagnosis is difficult from afar, even with your good video. I think the black dust is your belt disintegrating, and the noise sound like a problem in the transmission, possibly with the brakes although it could be the clutch.

The brakes are inside the transmission on this model, so they are not separtely repairable.

The dust is probably from the motor clutch going bad, just pull the motor and clutch out and check.

Wife noticed the washer with the door open and the rubber gasket off and tangled in the clothes - all the clothes were saturated so i assume this happened prior to the completion of the spin cycle. She didn’t hear any loud noises. I drained the pump and a lot of water came out. I replaced the gasket as best i could (probably will need to replace it), closed the door and attempted to start the washer. The water ran, but no spinning whatsoever. I stopped the washer and the water drained. When I opened the door I moved the tub and noticed that it was pretty loose. Is it possible that it became unhooked/unhinged? If so, what would cause that? My wife did wash one of our dog’s beds and there was a significant amount of dog hair, not sure if that caused the malfunction. I am not handy but will give a shot at trying to fix on my own before calling a repairperson.
