This washer has overfilled and flooded the floor on 4 occasions since new. It always seems to have happened when the regular cycle has been interrupted for some reason. The first time my wife left the lid up and left to run errands and came home to a flood. Last night, I put a load in and let the tub fill and cut it off to allow the clothes to soak overnight. This morning when I resumed the cycle it would not shut off the water. I suspect I have either a slight leak in the pressure tube or the switch. What I don’t understand is that this model has a tee in the pressure tube and a second pressure switch (part # 39 in the diagram). What does this second pressure switch do? Would I have to replace both of them to be sure to eliminate this problem in the future or how would you determine which is leaking? As it is only an intermittent problem it is difficult to get it to repeat but I’m tired of cleaning up a flood and want to resolve it for sure. Any suggestions?
I have not seen this type of arrangement. Normally the problem you have is a result of blockage in the pressure tube, so the first and cost free thing to do is to blow out the pressure tube, and check for leaks.
One test you can do is to take off the tube at the tub, plug the hole so water does not run out the tub and start the machine. Then blow into the tube. If the water does not stop try changing out the pressure switch.
