The washer won’t advance through its cycles on any setting. I see from some of the other threads that it could be the lid switch…are those expensive and is it something I can replace without having a tech do it?

It can be the lid switch, on some models a bad lid switch will stop it after the wash agitation cycle, others will stop it after it fills.
Check the video library that has its link at the top of the Washer forum section for a video on how to replace the lid switch. It is an easy repair.
