I have just bought a cottage that came with a Frigidaire Gallery Series washer and dryer. I tried to use the washer (Model GLTF1570FS0) for the first time today, and it will fill with water, but when we start it, it does not move through the cycle by itself. I moved the control knob to different parts of the cycle, and it appears to do what it’s supposed to do, but does not advance on it’s own. The drum agitates, but then just sits there. There are no weird sounds or clicking that I have noticed. When it spun it also got going VERY fast, almost as if it was stuck and just kept speeding up. I’ve read through a number of the threads and it sounds like it may be a timer issue. They are $300 so I’m looking for any suggestions to try before I go buying a new timer. I saw one thread that suggested spraying some non-residue cleaner in the timer module area. Any other suggestions on what this might be and what to try? Thanks.
I did a little more investigation on our washer. It will function through each part of the cycle if the dial is turned manually, but it will not automatically advance from wash-rinse-spin, etc. I expect this is the timer that is not functioning. I remove the timer and the motor was very warm when operating. I’m going to try replacing the timer if I can locate one. If anyone has suggestions of what this may be, I would appreciate them.
