It is almost certainly the lid switch, so take the two screws out of the console, flip it back and you will see a plastic connector coming from the console.
Take it apart and insert a jumper wire in the two outer holes of the connector coming from the console and put the machine in spin mode. If it spins, replace the lid swtich.
