Washer's spin cycle won't work

Clothes remain soggy. Landlord says I must have broken it from overloading. It’ll be 5 years old next month ("brand new" according to landlord). He wants to charge me for service call. What say you?

I seriously doubt if the problem is your fault, or that it is a result from overloading.

The Thrust Bearing on these models usually fails and causes it not to spin. Here is the part.

My experience, which is not binding is that when a rental unit contains a washer, it is the responsible of the landlord to maintain it unless the problem is clearly the result of tenant abuse or the lease or some other verbal/written agreement absolves the landlord from maintaining it.
