The water in my older Maytag model does not shut off after the rinse/spin cycle and will continue to drip into the washer causing me to put the wash through another spin cycle to drain the additional water if I don’t get there to switch the clothes the minute the washer stops running. What is causing this problem?

The constantly dripping water is a sure sign of bad water inlet valve.
There are two different valves listed for your model number. If the serial number starts with 10 and up to 19 the correct valve is
If it’s 20 and up
