I went out yesterday to do a "quick" agitator dog replacement job. Couldn’t for the life of me remove the softener dispenser cup. Machine’s leaking oil (on it’s last leg), so the owner decided to force the cup out in order to remove the agitator.

I never came across a snap-out part so stuck in my life! Beside calcium build-up from hard water, anybody else come across a similar situation?

We got it fixed, but the damage to the upper agitator would require replacement in order to restore it to specs.

I think it is that awful fabric softener stuff, it is just terrible. The worst I had was a three day soak to separate out the parts of the agitator.

Never had the cup stuck like that, but I can see where it could happen with a person who overloads the cup with softener for years.
