Whirlpool Cabrio F1 (originally) Now F2

Hello Experts.

A bit of pickle. This device seems to break at least once a year and since the last failure was 7/16/2016–it was time.

So, in the first, I was getting the F1 (in diagnostic mode). This tells me in the Service Manual that this is a main control board failure.

I got a main control board and installed it. Now the code is F2. According to the fault code it is Keypad/User interface failure.

I checked the connections-everything look kosher. I took the thing apart to check the belt (OK), the motor (seems OK spins freely), the thermal fuse (shows 0 on the Ohmmeter), high limit thermostat (0 on the Ohmmeter) and the thermistor (11.01 on the Ohmmeter)

So…the man says…replace the user interface board. Before I go back into my pocket (again) i wanted to ask if I am on the right track?

Oddly, if I put the original main control board back in - it does not F1…it F2’s. That throws me because technically – wouldn’t we expect it to F1?

If one of you nice experts could provide some guidance–it would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing is more pressure packed than the dryer being down.

I would try to clean all of the wiring connections to and from the control board and the UI using a contact cleaner like… see pic…

Some times the wiring connections become corroded and a good cleaning will solve a communication error

Clean both the wire ends and the connection points on the boards
