Whirlpool Cabrio Loud during spin

HI I have a 2 year old whirlpool cabrio wtw6700tw1 that is loud on the spin cycle. It has also recently started to leak a little bit. I have disassembled the motor and have inspected the drive shaft. When I manually turn the shaft, it makes the same loud grinding noise.

I think I need part AP4316595, the outer tub. Just wanted to make sure I barking up the right tree.
Thanks for the help!

I would say you are barking up the right tree. I have a post for the same thing 7-8 posts below yours.

IS A GAS VALVE THE SAME AS A GAS COIL. I HAD a IGNITER SWITCH AND GAS COILS REPLACED BUT STILL NOT STAYING LIT. ALL VENTS ARE CLEAN

Two different things. What the model number?

Mine is less than 3 years old, and I am having the exact same problem! I paid almost $1000 for the washer in 2009, and I have been told the repair would be around $800. So, I am likely getting a new washer. It won’t be a Whirlpool! They should have issued a recall on this problem since I have seen MANY online posts on various sites of people having the same problems! Shame on you Whirlpool!!!

This is fairly new information that you may find helpful.

Whirlpool Cabrio Bearing Replacement Kit

Thanks for that info! Any idea how much the kit/tool run? Is this something a person like me (zero experience with appliance repair) could do? Also, would the bearing also explain the leak I have or is that maybe a separate issue?

Thanks.

Click on the part number in that post for current prices on the part and tool.

I have yet to do one myself, but a few of the guys have posted that they have done them.

My washer in so incredibly loud during the spin cycle, it sounds like it was put together without bearings or grease, or both.

I have read other posts about this, seems like a common occurrence on these washers. Why is there no recall or help from Whirlpool?

I have a whirlpool cabrio that is making a jet engine sound when spinning.
notice numerous others with same problem. Has there been a recall on this? What can be done?
