Washer came with the house, no manuals or service records. No idea how old this thing is, I just guessed. Been working just fine until last night. Initiated the Normal wash cycle, and instead of getting the "Washing" LED, I get the "Clean" and "Cancel/Drain" LEDs and I hear the drain pump running. This continues for approximately 4 minutes, and then the unit shuts off with the Clean LED still lit.
Here is my front panel (LEDs all look lit up due to the camera flash, not because they’re all on).
I grabbed the 8066008 tech sheet from this forum and started playing with the diagnostic mode. It seems to enter diagnostic mode fine; it flashes all the LEDs and then starts filling. However, then events start happening that don’t match the timing on the diag timing chart. And there are 13 intervals instead of 11.
At the start of the diag cycle, the Washing and Normal LEDs are on, and the fill valve is open. The pump seems to be running while the unit is filling - I haven’t yet figured whether it’s in drain or wash, but I can see it spinning. At about 1 min, the Pots-n-Pans and High Temp Wash LEDs turn on. At 1:40, the Normal LED turns off and the fill valve shuts off. I waited for a little while and then hit the Pots-n-Pans button to change to the next interval, and it just shut off the Pots-n-Pans LED. Another manual advance and the LEDs all shut off, the Air Dry LED turns on and the unit starts draining. And draining. And draining. I think I’ve left it on for, like, a half hour or so.
Oh - and I’m not getting the CLEAN LED until the end, so I would think that I have a thermistor instead of a thermostat, but I’m also getting all these other LEDs turning on and off that, according to the tech sheet, never come on during the diag cycle.
So I pulled the float switch cover, tickled the float assembly and it’s running up & down nice and smooth. Pulled the switch out of the box and checked continuity while opening & closing the switch. Worked just fine. A little excitement getting it tucked back in the housing while the juice was still flowing
I’m not sure what else tells the unit to exit the drain cycle beside the float switch and the cycle timer. The rest of the intervals seem to time out and advance automatically with no problem, so I’m rather stumped.
Hoping to avoid $170+ for a control board
Suggestions greatly appreciated. And if you have a better tech sheet, or can help me understand why the timing chart isn’t matching what I’m experiencing, I’d appreciate that, too.
