Whirlpool Dishwasher won't drain

Please Help!!! My dishwasher will not drain. I hear it trying to drain. It clicks a couple of times and then stops. I have unhooked the drain hose and it is clear. Any help would really appreciated cause my wife is really tired of doing the dishes manually.
