Whirlpool dryer only works on High Heat

Dryer only seems to work on high heat …we use Medium heat most of the time …is this most likely heating element or cycling thermostat?

I am trying to narrow it down or do I just order the Heating Element, thermostat all the parts…

Thanks

Scotty J.

It’s not the heating element, could be the cycling thermostat. What does it do if you select medium or low heat? No heat, high heat?

Eric

There is no heat when on Medium

Faulty temp switch.

OK Thanks…Is there a video on how to replace it? My guess is it is under the front panel of all the dials?

Thanks

Unplug dryer, pull the temp switch knob off. Remove two screws on back of each end cap on the control panel. Pull control panel forward and lift to access inside of control panel. Lift the tab on one side of switch, rotate switch about 30° and remove switch. Unplug wiring from existing switch and attach to new switch.

Thanks again mine has 3 different dials on the front but I get it pull off all the knobs and then panel to access the switch. I will order the part and get to it this weekend.

Should be 4 knobs including timer but you only have to take the temp switch knob off. You are not removing the front panel, just opening it to gain access to the inside of it. You must remove the temp switch knob as the temp switch pulls out of back side of panel.

Eric

Got it thanks

Thanks Eric !!

All fixed up…decided to take back panel off and clean it all up.
