whirlpool dryer won't start

dryer buzzes loudly like it wants to start, but won’t.Door switch clicks.can hear timer working. The two violet wires running to thermostat are warm to the touch and gives a little shock.I also felt some other wires that are warm to the touch. Dryer will try to start every 10 minutes or so if I leave the timer on.Please help.

If you decide that the motor is not too expensive, open the unit up before making a final decision just to see if it needs any other parts re: belt, rollers felt seals etc. These can add up quickly and there is no use ripping it apart and having to do it again in 6 months.

I do not recommend machines, if I did and it did not work out I 'd just make an enemy.

I would recommend:
Do not get fancy, the more stuff they put in the more stuff breaks.
Get a unit with rear support rollers not the center mount drum type.
Try to get one without electronics or the minimum amount of electronics. This may be difficult.
The old style but proven units which use thermostats instead of a thermistor with a board regulating the temperature are better. They cost less to fix and are easier to troubleshoot.
Make sure the wiring diagram comes with it. Ask to see it, if it is overly complicated walk away.
Try to finagle a service manual out of them, this also may be difficult, at minimum check on the internet to see if a parts breakdown is available on the manufacturers site.

The above are just my opinion, with a little luck others will read this post and add to or change these recommendations
